    Swartswood State Park

    Situated about five miles east of Newton, Swartswood State Park offers a variety of both summer and winter activities. The lake offers fishing and swimming in the summer, and ice skating and ice boating in the winter. Camping is also available here.

    Stokes State Forest

    Stokes State Forest is located roughly five miles north of Newton, NJ. There is a sight-seeing pavilion at the top of the mountain which can be accessed either by hiking or by a short drive up the road. Those who enjoy hiking, camping, fishing and photography will find this park to be full of activity.

    Kittatinny Valley State Park

    Kittatinny Valley State Park is found about six miles south of Newton, NJ. This park lies over the Germany Flats aquifer, which is large source of fresh groundwater. Hiking is popular here, as are fishing and boating on Lake Aeroflex or Gardner's Pond.
